Environmental, social and governance
Environmental
Amiba planted over 1,500 native trees in the area immediately around the MDS Amiba buildiing when it was constructed in 1998. The planting was designed to provide habitat for birds and wildlife and mostly comprised species considered native to these islands. Trees used include sessile oak, holm oak, ash, hawthorn, buckthorn, whitethorn, seabrean, field maple, wild pear, holly and hazel. Willow, birch and arbutus were also added. The trees and shrubs were under-planted with a wide range of native bulbs and perennials including snakeheads, bluebells, snow drops, dogs tooth violets, foxgloves and anemones.
Dave Victory, as Amiba operations manager, was responsible for the overall design. Since 2018 Dave and Antoinette have taken their home garden to a whole new level. The garden has been extensively redeveloped and is now open to the public as part of the Dublin Garden Trail.
Dave is currently hand crafting a reproduction Victorian style glasshouse. Amiba is proudly sponsoring the glazing for this project.
